Izola Emergency centre (IEC)

Izola Emergency centre (IEC) is a department of Izola General Hospital combining the secondary outpatient treatment of urgent states. It was established on 22 February 2013. This was the plan of the Ministry of Health concerning the reorganisation of the emergency departments in Slovenia. These plans envisage the establishment of emergency centres in all general hospitals in Slovenia.

Izola Emergency centre (IEC) has been striving to set up and constantly enhance a system of treating patients with medical emergency which would offer the highest level of medical excellence, safety, effectiveness and efficiency of diagnostics and treatment of patients who need urgent care. Such a system consists of predetermined clinical work processes, clear responsibilities and professional competence of the employees, a system for documenting the performed work, the management system of material and human resources and quality control of work and clinical risks.

Patients who request examination in the emergency unit; however, their condition is not urgent according to the medical criteria, will be regarded as self-paying.
